How to Lose Weight to Cure Cancer

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

It was in the headlines in a national newspaper two days ago as of this writing. The front page caption was "Lose Weight To Cure Cancer". When I read it I some how laughed to myself. This is something I have known for a long time. In-fact I helped my aunt cure herself by urging her to lose weight a few years ago.

How to Lose Weight to Cure Cancer

Yes a few years ago my aunt had Leukemia. Now she is in remission and has never felt better. But before I tell you how she did lose weight to cure cancer, let me tell you a little bit about this type of cancer called Leukemia.

What is Leukemia?

Leukemia is a form of cancer that starts in the stem cells of the bone marrow that make blood cells. Bone marrow is a soft spongy material that fills up the centre of the bones where also the blood is made. Then the blood stem cells develop into myeloid stem cells or lymphoid stem cells.

Lymphoid stem cells develop into 1 of 3 types of mature stem cells.

1) Red blood cells: These carry oxygen to tissues of the body.
2) Platelets: These form clots in damaged blood cells to prevent bleeding.
3) White blood cells: These are also called granulocytes and monocytes. They destroy bacteria and help to prevent infection.

Then we have Lymphoid stem cells that develop into lymphocytes. They are usually found in the lymph nodes and lymphatic system.

Leukemia develops when the blood stem cells in the bone marrow make abnormal cells. These abnormal cells are then called leukemia cells. As time goes by the leukemia cells take over the normal cells and make it hard for the white and red blood cells to do their job.

Now that you have a little bit of knowledge on what leukemia is let me tell you how my aunt cured herself with out drugs or chemotherapy. As you may know I am not a medical doctor but i am a weight loss expert so it was only natural for me to suggest to my aunt to practice some alternative health methods.

This is what I told her to do:

Fast For Five Days:

When I told my aunt that she had to fast for five days without food but only water she was terrified. But in the end she did it. The first two days were the toughest but but after that it was easy. Fasting removes all toxins from the body which cause the cancer in the first place.

Eat Raw Food:

Yes raw food. I got my aunt on the Paleo diet which consists of 90% raw food. The only food she did not eat raw was the lean beef because these days the cows are given antibiotics before they are slaughtered. All she was to eat was every type of vegetable and fruit she could lay her hands on, coupled with meat of course, chicken, fish, nuts and seeds. She was not to eat simple sugars, white bread or grains because these foods encourage the growth of cancer cells.

An Exercise Program.

My aunt is 66 years old a had never exercised in her life so I slowly led her into walking her dog for an hour a day to running for half an half a day. Then she started to incorporate some body weight exercises into the mix in the likes of press ups, deep knee bends and crunches or sit ups.

Getting Vitamin D from the early morning sun.

Even if you live in an area where the sun does not shine always expose your self outside in the morning. That is what I told my aunt to do. during winter she took herbal vitamin D capsules to supplement her diet.

I can tell you, after three years of telling and showing her how to lose weight to cure cancer she cured herself. She is so happy now and ever thankful to me showing her what to do.

Paleo Diet Meal Planner for Vibrant Energy and Weight Loss!

And so you have decided the Paleo Plan is now your new food regime. A new way of eating, living and meal planning. The Paleo diet meal planner is not as foreboding or complicated as you may initially assume in fact it is not that much different from the good wholesome meals your grandparents would have prepared. This of course is not implying your grandparents lived in the 'caveman era' but merely that the food available was organic, natural and a whole lot healthier. Paleo meals will set you on the path of a new way of eating, shopping and cooking.

In order that your transition to the Paleo plan goes smoothly here are some ideas and tips to creating your Paleo diet meal planner. The following are the basic requirements for a successful Paleo meal plan. Where possible, and do not be lazy in this regard, shop around and source suppliers but try to buy organic, natural, free range or wild products:

Paleo meal planner allowed foods:

  1. Protein from lean beef, lamb, pork, game, skinned poultry, eggs and seafoods (full range);
  2. Fruit - all varieties particularly plenty of berries (very good anti-oxidants)
  3. Vegetables - all varieties. Root vegetables however are generally a no-no however the young leaves of carrots, beet etc are allowed and further than that I suggest you use your discretion here. However if your main aim is to shed extra weight then perhaps you should leave the root vegetables out.
  4. Most nuts and seeds.
  5. Fats and oils such as avocado oil, olive oil and nut oils - unprocessed oils.

Paleo meal planner excluded foods:

  1. All grain and grain products ie breads, pastry, pasta, crackers etc.
  2. All dairy and dairy products ie milk, yoghurt, cheeses, butter etc.

Your initial impression maybe one of concern that excluding grain and dairy a problem will arise with regard to variety. Rest assured that this is not so. The Paleo diet plan includes an incredible variety of foods. This is the ideal opportunity to be creative and use your foodie imagination. Family and friends will be in awe of the wonderful flavoursome and wholesome meals you are able to serve with the Paleo Diet meal planner foods.

There is no reason to fear having to find recipes and making meals for breakfast, lunch, supper, dessert, snacks, celebratory meals and barbecues. You will never have reason to feel deprived, excluded or cheated. The purpose of the Paleo diet plan is to introduce a lifestyle of correct eating to best ensure general wellbeing, increased vitality and consistent weight loss.

The Paleo Diet Meal Plan is the beginning of the rest of your healthy, slim and energetic new life!

Intermittent Fasting For Weight Loss

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

What Is Intermittent Fasting?

Intermittent Fasting For Weight Loss

Intermittent Fasting (IF) is the act of going without food or other caloric intake for a period of time, typically 15-24 hours. During this time, your body is unable to derive energy from incoming food and must instead turn to its stored energy (carbohydrates in the form of glycogen, amino acids, and fats) to maintain bodily functions. This is important as it gives the body time to focus on repair and immunity away from the highly energy intensive digestive process and forces the body to use all of its available energy pathways.

How Do I Do It?

There are two basic versions of Intermittent Fasting. While you'll derive the benefits of fasting from either method, a little experimentation will show you immediately which is your preferred method.

The Alternate Day fast, whereby you fast for 24 hours, then eat for 24 hours is the first method. You can implement this form of IF in various ways. For example, you can eat until 6pm, then not eat again until the next day at 6pm. By doing so, you still get to eat everyday, but you have a 24-hour period for the body to relax and not deal with digestion.

The second version approaches the day's meals from a hunter-gatherer perspective and could most appropriately be called a Compressed Window IF. By fitting all of the day's calories into a 4-6 hour window, rather than spreading them over the course of 14-16 hours as most people do, the day is freed up for other activities. The hunter-gatherer perspective, a lens through which all human endeavors should be viewed given our evolutionary history, is that during the day, our ancestors would have been out and about, finding food, with most eating occurring in the evening.

Let's Cut To The Chase. What Are The Benefits?

By experimenting with both versions, I have found that the Compressed Window version of IF works best for me. I go through my day at work, then head home and eat a large salad with plenty of colorful vegetables, nuts, eggs, sardines, and olive oil. After allowing some time for digestion, I then move into my evening meal, which is typically some sort of meat with prodigious quantities of vegetables and sometimes a sweet potato. Basically, I subsist on two large meals per day.

Of course, the question in your mind now is probably something along the lines of, "Yeah, but everybody knows you have to eat 5 times per day to have a lean body. What do you look like?" I easily maintain my weight of 185 pounds and 10% bodyfat at a caloric intake of over 3000 calories per day this way. It is so effortless that for the last few years, I've only gotten leaner and stronger while doing IF.

I have found numerous benefits of fasting [out], and many others report similar ones:

* Improved mental clarity during the fast

* Improved workout performance during the fast

* Lower body fat percentage at the same bodyweight (i.e., more muscle mass)

* No worry about food during the day - I can get up, run out the door to work, work all day, then go home to eat. I don't have to be concerned with fitting in lunch and food is no longer the focal point of my day.

* No food-induced crashes during the day - I'm on top of my game all day. Even eating low-carb Paleo on a normal eating schedule left me more lethargic than this

* Better in-tune with my body - you learn to distinguish psychological hunger (i.e., it's noon and I should eat) from real hunger. When I get truly hungry, I break the fast and eat, even if it's outside my "window"

* More energy - You'd think I'd experience fatigue with no food intake, but I can't quit moving and having an urge to go run around the block during a fast

* Food tastes better - it's amazing how much better a well-cooked meal tastes when you haven't eaten all day

* I sleep better

A big fear for most people is that without eating they won't have the energy to go about their day. On the contrary, my body has learned how to tap into its fat reserves to provide more than ample energy during a fast. In fact, I find my workout performances are significantly better when working out fasted. Other people report the very same thing too! It's as if the body is meant to work this way.

As I said above, I'm far more energetic during my fasts than after a meal, regardless of the meal composition. Studies show that markers of inflammation decrease, hormones associated with disease protection increase, and healing is improved when fasting. It appears that the brain is protected from toxic stressors, the body increases its cancer protection, and aging is slowed from fasting. All of these benefits from just going without food for a few hours a week!

Ok, I'm Intrigued. But How Do I Start?

The easy answer to that question is "slowly". Obviously you can't just stop eating every other day and expect your body to react with approval. I found it easiest to slowly increase the length of my fast. First, I just started skipping breakfast and increasing the size of my evening meal to compensate for the calories. I broke my fast every day at lunch time for a few weeks, then started moving lunch closer to dinner, about an hour every week. Eventually, my first meal was moved to the evenings when I was home from work.

I started an experiment with a 24-hour fast, eating from 6pm to 6pm, then fasting until the following 6pm. I found that many of the benefits of fasting, such as the lack of food-induced crashes were missing. On the days that I woke up and ate breakfast, even a low-carb breakfast of eggs and spinach left me a bit less perky than simply not eating. That's why I say that you'll have to figure out which version of IF works best for you.

One Final Word of Advice

One very important thing about fasting is that, while you can get away with less optimal food choices than you can on a normal diet, food quality makes fasting much, much easier. You can actually gain weight while fasting if you are loading up on sugary processed foods during your eating periods rather than focusing on quality meats, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fruits.

In the end, there is no "best" way. The best way is what fits easily into your lifestyle and allows you to focus on living, not when your next meal is going to come. I urge everyone to try this approach to eating.

The Weight Loss Detox Diet

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

Weight loss detox diets have become very popular with celebrities, because they allow people to lose weight quickly, usually about 5-7 pounds in 1-2 weeks. That sounds great, but like most fads, people put the weight back on as soon as the detox is over. Why? Because, they aren't eating anything. It is basically a liquid diet, like the very popular lemonade diet. They are severe calorie deficient detox diets that allow the body to lose significant weight in a very short period of time. But, as soon as you start eating again, all the weight comes back. That may work for an actress who needs to look great for 1 scene, but that won't work for you assuming you want to keep the weight off.

The Weight Loss Detox Diet

The good news is that there is a way to detox and lose weight which will not only keep the weight off, but insure you get maximum health benefits... For example, if you do a detox correctly, you can expect to see your skin clear up, cellulite and fat will start to melt away, you should have very restful sleep, and strong, sustained energy throughout the day. Let's learn more about this very specific weight loss detox, not to be confused with the other fads and scams out there right now. It follows two steps...

Step 1

To give your body the tools it needs to detoxify, cleanse and regenerate, a weight loss detox diet must give the body even more vitamins, minerals and nutrients than normal. This means that fasting is NOT a good choice. You want to eat foods rich in essential nutrients and antioxidants that enable your body to flush the toxins and pollutants that have accumulated over your lifetime. By eating these foods, you will detox safely and also lose weight. The foods you will be eating are rich in nutrients, high in fiber, and low in fat. You can expect to lose between 3-7 pounds over a 7-10 day period. And, you will not gain the weight back. Why? Because, you aren't starving yourself. Your body will be relinquishing the fat in a healthy way. The best part is that you will see many other benefits besides weight loss. You will also lower your cholesterol, blood pressure, boost your immune system, have much more energy etc...

A great example of this is Vitamin C. Vitamin C has been shown in many, many studies to help in weight reduction. According to researchers from Arizona State University, individuals consuming sufficient amounts of vitamin C oxidize (burn) 30% more fat during moderate exercise than those who consume insufficient amounts. In addition, too little vitamin C in the bloodstream has been shown to correlate with increased body fat and waist measurements. This is the best source of whole food, all natural vitamin C anywhere. Please, see The Weight Loss Detox Diet below to learn more...

Step 2

The second step is to use some powerful, organic superfoods and herbs to speed up and magnify the process of detoxing and losing weight. Use the highest quality herbs well known for their ability to increase the metabolism and remove fat from the body. Specific herbs are able to lower blood pressure and build strength in the walls of the veins and arteries which is very important for protecting the heart from excess fat. The combination of herbal formulas that can help the body lose weight and protect the heart are ideal for a weight loss reduction program. Please, see below to learn more...

Apple Diet - It Works For Weight Loss, But Beware of 1 Version Of This Diet

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

Ever hear of the apple diet? It's a popular weight loss diet that has numerous versions and spin-offs. A lot of these versions are healthy and work for weight loss, however 1 version you must absolutely avoid.

Apple Diet - It Works For Weight Loss, But Beware of 1 Version Of This Diet

First, why the apple diet works...

A big reason on why the apple diet works has to do with the high water content and high amount of fiber in each apple. The high water content allows you to "eat water" basically. The foods you mostly "eat water" with are generally low in calories, but very filling. For example, a 300-calorie candy bar won't fill you up, but 300-calories worth of apples will.

Another reason why the apple diet works is because each apple has 5 grams of fiber in it. It has both soluble and insoluble fiber. Having a high fiber intake is a big part of successful long term weight loss programs.

The average American only gets about 12 grams of fiber each day. It's recommended that you get 25 grams of fiber each day. I, however, advocate getting 35-50 grams of fiber each day for easy long term weight loss.

There are 2 rules to the apple diet...

Rule #1: Eat 1 apple before each meal

This is the main rule. Very simple, huh?

Just eat 1 apple before each of 3 meals. Nothing more. I won't even tell you to stop eating your favorite foods. Obviously, if you eat a little bit more healthy, you'll increase the speed in which you lose weight... but I won't force you to eat healthier.

Rule #2: Don't forget rule #1

Seriously, there is just 1 rule to the apple diet. However I want to add that I've found that my clients who have tried the apple diet get better results simply by following rule #1 and eating healthy snacks.

That's all you need to change in your diet... eat an apple before each of 3 meals... and eat healthy snacks. You can continue to eat more unhealthy type of foods for your meals. Just don't eat unhealthy snacks!

So, if you want an easy weight loss plan that isn't complicated and doesn't require much thinking on your part, try the apple diet.

Low Carb Recipes For the Prism Weight Loss Program

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

With more and more people who are concerned with their weights and want to undergo a weight loss program, to choose the right kind of weight loss program to follow can be very difficult. This is because there are many programs out there that one can avail of and there are so many diet recipes that you can explore. The problem though is that what you can only do is to simply try the programs and the recipes first before you see the result of the program. This is the scenario that often beset those people who are into a diet program. As they say, you need to try for you to see the result. But one of the recipes that many people have tried and have proven to be effective is the recipes for the prism weight loss program.

Low Carb Recipes For the Prism Weight Loss Program

There are a number of recipes out there to follow for those who are into diets and one of those that interest many are recipes for the PRISM weight loss program. Diet program provided for by this company is that of a low carbohydrate and faith based program that emphasizes change in an individual's way of life rather than on temporary diet weight loss plan. The Prism weight loss program was developed sometime in 1990 and almost one hundred thousand people follow the program and formed a group of fellows who are also into this diet program. The group in essence becomes the support group of each one of them and is there to encourage one another and share their diet insights and experiences.

As for the recipes for the Prism weight loss program, the main diet recipes are on a low-carbohydrate meal plan which basically calls for cut on sugar, white bread and other processed foods. The program also allows certain leeway for sugar such as the use of unprocessed sugar like honey and even allows for a wider variety of food options. Also, the program aims to eliminate the intake of too many carbohydrates which come from fruits and vegetables. The program unlike the other diet program incorporates a variety of foods to choose from in order for you to have a right and balance diet.

When you join the program they provide for a dietary plan that you should follow for six weeks wherein the whole thing calls for a daily 1,200 to 1,400 calorie-diet. In Prism, what is emphasized is that one should opt for the healthy whole foods rather than the white, processed, and refined products. Almost everything in the diet program has to be weighed in order to ensure that you take just enough calories that your body can burn.

Weight Loss With the Nigerian Diet

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

You might have noticed that here in Nigeria it is quite difficult to get the right type of food to incorporate in our diets since our foods are not really found on the web. Which foods to eat to help us lose weight and burn fat, and which foods to avoid. Generally we would try to avoid food that are rich in simple carbohydrates, and embrace those rich in protein.

Weight Loss With the Nigerian Diet

However, below is a list of various kinds of foods to decrease your intake of when trying to lose weight using the Nigerian diet. Note that I did not say you should completely stop taking them, but try to reduce them to the smallest amount possible! The nigerian Diet consists of various kinds of food, but majority of our foods, especially for the yorubas, are oily, and starchy!

Foods to decrease intake of in the Nigerian diet include:

1. Pounded yam: popularly called iyan, contains a lot of starch. Try to reduce intake of this.

2. Amala: made from the back of the yams so is pretty much starch too.

3. Garri: simply just cassava flour! Its known to be one of the promoters of big flabby tummy

4. Tuwo shinkafa: pounded rice so more or less contains as much carbs as white rice.

5. Soups: I suggest you avoid Nigerian soups when you are trying to lose weight because most of them contain so much oils. However some soups like okro soup, if cooked without oils can be very very good to incorporate into your weight loss program using the Nigerian diet.

6. Ofada rice, white rice

7. Akpu, also another cassava product, which is high in simple carbs and intake of it should be reduced. Akpu is also known to promote bulging tummies!

Please note that you should not totally eliminate the above carbohydrate foods from your diet, but try to limit intake of them to as little as possible.

Foods to increase intake of in our diet include:

1. As always, Beans. This contains high amount of protein, and are good building blocks for muscle. They are also one of the fat burning foods

2. Fish: Fish is very high in protein content

3. Fruits: Water melons, apples, oranges, bananas, etc

4. vegetables: with very little oil in it. vegetables are high in fiber content.

5. chicken and turkey: try peeling off the skin before taking these!

6. ukpa (of ibo origin) also high in protein content.

7: bean cake: moi-moi.

So now we can see that despite the fact that our foods are not really listed and classified popularly, there are various foods we can eat to loose weight!

When I started my weight loss program it was a hard task. Avoiding rice and eba was a very big deal for me, but I knew I had to do something about the tummy. so I stuck to eggs for breakfast, beans for lunch, vegetables for dinner, and fruits in between. those weeks seemed like the hardest in my life, but within a short period, I began to see results!

Medifast Alternatives - What Other Weight Loss Programs Are Similar to Medifast? (or Cheaper)

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

In this article we are going to quickly cover some alternatives to Medifast, as many of our readers are not only interested in losing weight, they're also interested in making sure they understand all of their options before they begin! Sound like you? Great, read on as we take a closer look!

Medifast Alternatives - What Other Weight Loss Programs Are Similar to Medifast? (or Cheaper)

Okay....so are there any good alternatives to Medifast?

Of course there are, yes. Dieting is actually a pretty simple formula, and when you cut down on all of the outside "noise" and fad science, it simply boils down to calories in, versus calories burned. Medifast is a low calorie, high protein diet, and any diet that espouses the same fundamental philosophy would be considered an alternative worthy of consideration.

So the Atkins diet...and similar high protein weight loss programs are similar?

No, not really. Atkins and South Beach and those style diets focus a lot on calories from "fat", and Medifast does not. More analogous diets would be Optifast, and other meal replacement programs that are primarily low calorie, liquid based programs.

How about those nutritional bars I see in convenience stores? Is that similar?

In theory, yes. However most of those foods are NOT nutrient dense foods, and instead...are often super high in calories, and are simply "glorified" protein heavy candy bars that are very rich in sugar and artificial fillers.

The bottom line?

Most of the programs that are TRULY analogous to Medifast require a doctors prescription to acquire. (as did Medifast for many years as well) The simple truth is that while there are many paths that one can take to lose a lot of weight, there are only a "few" really good, solid and enduring programs that are proven to work long term. As a side note, Medifast costs about 10 dollars a day (not including your ONE self prepared meal per day) and comparatively speaking, this is normally LESS than most people spend on "normal" foods on the daily diet that made them heavy in the first place!

Trampoline Weight Loss

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

Can your backyard trampoline help you to lose weight? You bet it can!

Trampoline Weight Loss

Just 10 minutes per day on a trampoline will accelerate weight loss and burn as many calories as a 30 minute jog!

You do not need to do flips and outrageous moves either.

Simply learning 5 or 6 basic moves and putting them into a routine is all that is required.

Here is an example work out on the trampoline.

Start with 20 warm up bounces, followed by 10 bounces getting higher and higher with each bounce, then 10 low bounces and again, 10 bounces getting higher and higher.

Do a Tuck Jump, Straddle Jump and Pike Jump one after the other, take a few bounces to recover and repeat 4 times.

Do a seat drop, followed by a tuck jump, followed by a seat drop, followed by a straddle jump, followed by a seat drop followed by a pike jump. Repeat this 4 times.

Do a Seat drop to front drop to feet.

Do a seat drop half twist out.
Do swivel hips - repeat several times

Finish with a routine.

Pike Jump
Seat Drop
Tuck Jump
1/2 Twist Jump
Seat Drop
1/2 Twist to Feet
Straddle Jump
Front Drop to Feet

OR

Pike Jump
Seat Drop
Swivel Hips
1/2 twist to feet
Tuck jump
Front Drop to Feet
Straddle Jump
Back Drop
1/2 Twist to Feet

The benefits of doing the above on your trampoline every day when combined with maintaining a healthy diet is not only weight loss, but overall toning. It is excellent for cellulite when combined with drinking lots of water. It also controls depression with amazing success. This is because it has been medically proven that it is impossible to feel depressed when jumping on a trampoline. Long term use will deter depression forever.

As an exercise apparatus, nothing beats the backyard trampoline, or a mini-rebounder (if you do not have a suitable garden for a larger trampoline).

Of course, all these moves need to be learned correctly for both safety and to ensure you get the best results from your trampoline exercise.

Lose Weight the Cave Man Style

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

Never underestimate the basics! Primal living takes a whole lot more than what it meets the eye. Prehistoric humans ate food only when they are able to hunt down wild-animals and gather edible plants, which are basically fruits and vegetables. Nothing synthetic or artificial substances were taken up as part of their food pyramid. All is natural and organic. Such ways of food lifestyle brings forth a diet plan inspired by imitating a prehistoric way of eating, called, the Paleo Diet. Paleo Diet is also called the Cave man Diet, the Evolutionary Diet and oddly, the Dinosaur Diet.

Lose Weight the Cave Man Style

Paleo Diet is mainly based on the food lifestyle of these prehistoric humans. Paleo Diet, a much healthier diet where food is purely based on meats, fruits and vegetables. It principally holds down the idea that what we eat is what we've become. The more we ate processed foods the more we become unhealthy, eating such foods cause a lot of implications that turns out into terrible diseases. By aping the food group eaten by the cave men, it mainly brings us closer to a more natural way of eating, bringing a healthier outcome to a man's body.

Paleo Recipe-List

Paleo Diet, what is not eaten by these prehistoric ancestors is out from your own the food list. On the food list, includes only, meats, eggs, seafood, fruits and vegetables that are only gathered naturally but not cultivated. It looks likely offbeat eating without the energy-giving food group but what is really eaten by ancestors is what we mimic through this diet. Grains, rice, pasta and dairies are restricted all throughout the diet. Carbohydrates may only be obtained only in eating vegetables.

Oils can only be gain out from non-agricultural raised seeds, such as, avocados, olive, oil palm and coconuts. Meats that are eaten should also be lean, raised only in non-agricultural manner or preferably grass-fed animals, these are better off than eating those who are commercially fed. Fish and other seafood should be caught wildly rather than in cultured pens.

As for beverages, water is the only beverage allowed but organic tea leaves are also considered. Alcohol consumption and fruit juices are eliminated from the diet. Fruit juices are eliminated due to their concentrated fructose, glucose and sugar contents which is basically not a Paleolithic way. Salt is also removed from the diet; no salt is used during the prehistoric times. Anything related to excessive sweets and sugars are also not welcomed.

Do the hunting yourself!

It's not basically you go out hunting for your own food in today's modernized era but rather copying the active lifestyle of these prehistoric ancestral hunters. They go out fishing, hunting and walk for days in search for food. As a substitute for hunting food, you can walk, jog and do several exercises equivalent that to a caveman's hunting activity. The point of this is that do not rely too much on a low-caloric diet but walking out those sexy legs would just be a whole lot better than doing nothing.

Back-to-the-Basics

Paleo Diet, is not just an ordinary diet. It takes out a lot of modern-based agricultural foods and it takes a lot of guts in eliminating them from your diet. Purely are based on foods can be hunted and gathered. It is a low-caloric diet and highly nutritious considering vitamins and minerals present in the organic meat, fruits and vegetables. Taking additional food supplements is highly not considered since it is a non-Paleolithic way. Sticking to the basics is basically what this diet is all about.

Paleo Diet is also a lifestyle change. The more basic your food lifestyle is, the more it is healthier. Looking up to the ancestors who were free of artificial food products and living life the simpler way models out this amazing ancestral diet.

The reason for this being firstly the foods they were consuming were foraged and hunted for and secondly they were totally natural ie organic. The constant hunting and gathering resulted in regular exercise. Paleo foods available to the caveman were foods 'created' by mother nature for the maximum functionality of the human body

You will notice initially when you set out on the Paleo diet there will be quite a sudden and substantial weight loss. Once you level out it will take a little more effort eg exercising regularly and adequately. The weight loss will be slightly slower but regular and you can be assured that it will be fat and not muscle that you are losing. So often we rush into a fad weight loss plan that promises substantial weight loss in the minimum time where in fact, yes, you will change size, but is it fat or is it muscle? You may think well weight loss is weight loss, however we need muscle tissue, excess fat is what we need to target and lose.

Yes to a small degree calories need to be watched and portions to be reasonable. Excess fat to be trimmed from meat and skin removed from poultry.. Truth be told once you are on Paleo foods you will feel content and satisfied and those cravings for starchy, stodgy and sweet foods will be a thing of the past. You will find your eating habits and cravings being controlled naturally and you will be eating to live not living to eat.

You may still experience some gnawing hunger pangs from time to time. There is no problem with that as mid-meal snacks are allowed BUT be sensible and choose foods from the Paleo foods list. By eating Paleo foods you are eating food designed by mother nature for the human body. Paleo foods digest and are metabolized more efficiently with the result you will find your energy level boosted, your immune system improved, you will feel happier and slimmer and walk with a spring in your step.

In the caveman era Paleo foods eaten were absolutely natural and wild - free of any contamination. Sourcing and buying fresher and more naturally produced food is what you will need to concentrate on. Most supermarkets are now stocking organic or free range products however should this not be the case in your town try and source local farmers' markets - why not even attempt to grow some of the vegetables, fruits and herbs yourself.

By following an organic or natural eating plan your body can primarily concentrate on metabolizing and processing food efficiently and not have to contend with the elimination of toxic chemicals that are not recognised and result in metabolism slowing down and thus weight loss may not occur at all could be minimal.

All grains, dairy and root vegetables are excluded from the plan. Initially this may cause alarm, however you will soon learn that there is more than enough variety on the list to enjoy wholesome, nourishing and satisfying meals. See our 10 free recipes as proof of this.

If maintained weight loss is your ultimate goal then Paleo foods is your path to success.

Good luck, enjoy - you will not regret the change over to the Paleo foods way of living!!

Pros and Cons of Paleo Diet for Weight Loss

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

There are innumerable ways that speak about how to lose weight. So, if you are thinking about the idea of actually trying a diet to put a brake on your weight gain, you really have a huge heap to choose from. One of the diets that created quite a buzz in the weight loss arena is the Paleolithic Diet, dubbed as the Paleo diet.

Pros and Cons of Paleo Diet for Weight Loss

Obviously, the name says it all. It is a diet based on the eating habits of a Paleolithic man, commonly known as a caveman or a hunter during the Stone Age. Thinking about their diet, you might picture our ancestors hunting wild boars and eating fresh fruits, which is exactly the emphasis of this diet. Since they used to scavenge on the resources that were limited to their environment, a diet of a cave dweller was basically more of protein and less of carbohydrates.

Considering that their main supply of food consisted of lean meats-a good source of protein, fruits-for vitamins and minerals, fish-a good provider of fatty acids, grains and other sources of sugar are nearly nonexistent since they were not the type to grow crops and herd animals. Thus, explaining the exclusion of legumes, salt and dairy products in the Paleo diet.

This particular diet met a lot of criticism. Critics feel that there are foods included in the Paleo diet that contradicts the list of other popular diet plans. They consider it to be unfeasible to actually mimic the exact food selection of the hunt-gatherers. They also consider this diet to be restrictive because even though the diet includes fruits and vegetables, other carbs and even dairy products are not included.

However, some cons can be overlooked because the advantages outweigh it. Can you think about any single record that says that those who lived in the Paleolithic Era suffered from high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, diabetes or cancer? Most of them died from accidents during hunting and old age, but not from the conditions that has a constant increase in our society nowadays. Because it lacks of additives and processed foods, it is considered as naturally healthy. It requires no computations and measurements. And it gives an emphasis on physical activity, and calcium is not only found in dairy products but in the greens as well.

Losing weight is tough. And even though everyone wants to lose those excess fats in the fastest way possible, it's always nice to take things slow and lose it the healthy way!

How to Lose Weight Doing the Paleo Diet

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

Perhaps you've heard of the Paleo Diet. Perhaps you haven't. Maybe you're someone who's grown tired of fighting a never-ending battle of the bulge, a battle that you're losing, and you're looking for a new way of healthy eating that will help you get in better shape. It could even be that you've heard a lot of hullabaloo about eating Paleo foods and simply want to learn more. Whatever your reason is for coming here, we're here to help you determine if the Paleo Diet is right for you.

How to Lose Weight Doing the Paleo Diet

The diet takes its name from the Paleolithic period of history, which lasted for approximately 2.5 million years and ended around 10,000 years ago. The Paleo Diet has also been called Neanderthin, the Stone Age diet, the caveman diet, and the hunter-gatherer diet.

In simple terms, the Paleo Diet is one that is based on consuming the foods that our hunter-gatherer ancestors supposedly ate-things like fish, grass-fed meats, fruits and vegetables, and nuts and roots. It does NOT include grains, refined sugars, salt, or processed oil. There is also some debate as to whether or not dairy products (milk, cheese, butter, yogurt) should be consumed. In a nutshell, the diet is high in protein and low in carbohydrates.

So are you wondering what you can eat on the Paleo Diet? Specifically, you can eat meat, fish, eggs, vegetables and berries, fruits and nuts, and dairy-depending on whether or not you are lactose-intolerant. You can NOT eat grains (barley, wheat, rice, etc.) and corn, starchy vegetables like potatoes and yams, refined sugar, legumes (beans, peanuts, cashews, soy products, etc.), and chemical food additives. If you must use salt, do it in moderation. The same goes for processed foods and artificial sweeteners like aspartame and the like. Think about it this way, basically you can eat anything that our ancestors could catch with a spear or pick from a tree or bush.

By eating a diet that is high in protein and low in carbohydrates and processed foods, your body will turn to burning fat for energy. This is because it will no longer rely on sugars, starches, and complex carbohydrates for energy. This means that after your body uses the energy in the foods you've consumed, it will then use the stored fat in your body for energy-hence the subsequent weight loss that comes with eating a high protein, low carbohydrate diet, such as the Paleo Diet.

In summary, eating a high protein low carbohydrate diet like the Paleo Diet, or even adopting it as a lifestyle rather than a diet, will allow your body will become better at burning fat and help you shed your excess weight easily.

How to Lose Weight With the God-Given Plan

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

I've struggled with my weight since I was about 14 years old. At 14, I was 5 feet 7 inches tall (the height I am now) and when I weighed in at the varsity sports physical (held in the library in front of everyone), I was 150 lbs. I've never been a skinny waif, but I was never considered "fat" either. I was athletic and muscular and well, big-boned! Nevertheless, the shock on the athletic director's face when she saw how much I weighed was enough to make me cry!

How to Lose Weight With the God-Given Plan

Since then, I've dieted and exercised and over-dieted and over-exercised. I've had seven babies and been pregnant with two others (for a brief shining moment), and so have had the hormonal and weight changes that go along with that. I've never been extremely happy with my body, but I've never been so unhappy either that I'm willing to starve or have some kind of eating disorder.

I've recently lost two pants sizes. I have no idea how much weight I've lost because I don't own a scale. But I definitely needed to lose some, because I was wearing a pants size that I've never had to wear before! Rather than starve myself and sign up for a gym (I hate to spend money on stuff like that), I decided to take a more God-given approach.

First, I really hate to exercise. I don't mean that I like to sit around all day, but I like my exercise to have a purpose. When we lived in Vermont, I used to stack wood and carry wood into the house and haul water down to animals. I lived on the side of the hill, so even getting to the mailbox was exercise. I live in the city now and still have a large garden that needs hoeing and weeding, but the other activity simply isn't there. So I had to adjust.

Since I'm still not going to join a gym and I still hate taking a walk just for the point of taking a walk, I've tried to add activity and exercise to everything (well, not everything) I do. Since we live in the middle of a wonderful downtown area, we walk everywhere. I love to walk with a purpose. We walk to Jack's soccer games. We walk to one of the three playgrounds near us. We walk to the pool. We walk along the trail to the bike shop, the boat launch or the ice cream shop (where I very patiently only eat the last couple of bites of Kiara or Seamus' ice cream and forego a treat for myself!).

I've also started instituting a little exercise routine into more boring parts of my day. I still dry my hair with a blow dryer. No, it's not very frugal or green. I know that. But I'm growing it out and until it grows out, I have to dry it or I'm frizz central. Which I just hate. So there. You caught me! But while I'm drying my hair and brushing my teeth, I raise up and down on my toes 30 times. Sounds silly, I know. But I haven't had a defined calf muscle in probably ten years and after doing this for two months, I do. I also do 20 leg lifts on both sides while I'm blow drying. Silly? Sure. But something has to account for those pant size drops because I still eat ice cream before bed two or three times a week!

If I'm feeling really energetic, I'll lay down and do a bunch of stomach crunches and weight lift with some 8 lb weights that came with our house for about 10 minutes. I probably do this 3-4 times a week. And while I'm waiting for the coffee to brew in the morning, if Seamus isn't too grouchy, I'll do 20-30 deep squats right there in the kitchen. It's usually about 5 am so no one else sees me.

I try to do these things in little spurts because the idea of "working out" for 30 or 60 minutes at a time not only sounds mind-numbingly boring to me, but is virtually impossible because someone is always needing something!

I've also changed the way I look at food. I was always a pleasure and comfort eater. Now I try and look at things in a more centered way. I figure that God and Mother Nature came up with a plan for what humans should eat and they provided us with it - as well as the tools and knowledge to grow more. If it doesn't grow in the ground or doesn't eat what grows in the ground, I try not to eat it. By looking at our food as what it is, simple fuel, and not as a reward, punishment, comfort or anything else, I have found that I eat a lot less and eat much more of the things that are good for me.

I eat much less refined sugar now than I used to. I used to not be able to pass by a plate of cookies or brownies and now I have no trouble. By simple changing my perception of food and being happy with what is provided, I find that I have fewer cravings and fewer "needs" for what really are "bad" foods.

I also found that my nature is to not be wasteful. I was hollered at forever as a child to "clear my plate" and "eat all I take." What I started doing as a grown-up was eating everything my kids left on their plates too, so it wouldn't go to waste! Ugh! They were perfectly healthy, eating what they needed, and here was their vacuum cleaner mom, still trying to please her parents with perfect plates. Once I realized just how many crusts of PB&J I was eating, I realized that it's OK to be a little wasteful sometimes.

Now, I am not perfect! I do not eat salad three times a day! But I've cut out all refined flour from our diets except for pasta once a week and I've tried to eliminate refined sugar from everything I eat and drink. I only drink coffee and water during the day - no more soda (especially diet soda which I'm convinced makes you fatter) and I have a glass of wine or two with my hubby on a date night once a month or on a weekend. I do put lemon juice in my water occasionally, just for something different.

Why do I call this a God-Given diet? Because I believe God has given us all the tools we need to be healthy and the weight we need to be. We just have to embrace real food and take our exercise opportunities when we can, as often as we can.

"For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living" - 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12

Rapid Weight Loss on the Palaeolithic Diet

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

For those of you who want to lose weight fast, but in a safe and effective way, the Palaeolithic Diet has a lot going for it. The book, by Dr Loren Cordain explains that the human genome has changed very little in the last 40 thousand years, and that we are essentially Stone Age people living in a modern world. He further states that we really should be easting a diet based on that of our ancestors, and not the carbohydrate packed, refined and processed foods we currently consume.

Rapid Weight Loss on the Palaeolithic Diet

Wheat for example, has only been eaten in its cultivated form for around 10 thousand years, since the first farms sprung up in the Middle East. Humans have not adapted to consume these products and they do little for our general health and fitness, and in many cases, do us significant harm, in terms of obesity and related illnesses.

The Paleo Diet advocates a diet rich in lean protein, fresh vegetable, nuts, and fruit, similar to the diet our ancient ancestors would have eaten on a daily basis. The great thing about the diet is that it does allow 'cheat meals', perhaps one a week if you are needing to lose significant amounts of weight, and up to 2 or 3 if you are just in weight maintenance mode.

The diet does not include grains, pulses, or dairy, but having been on it for a few months; I really grew to enjoy it. I ate a lot of stir fries, salads, sea foods, and lean meats. Once one gets into the swing of things, it really is a delightfully effective diet. The extra protein satiates your appetite wonderfully, so you are never hungry. The gradual, but consistent weight loss is very rewarding, and you should be able to reach a lean, athletic weight in a matter of a few months. And all this without the awful tedium and hunger pangs of traditional diets. Give it a try; you'll be pleased you did.

Weight Loss Shakes Comparison - A Look at Atkins, Slim Fast, and Medifast Shakes

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

Of all of the questions that I get about medifast and other diets, people ask about the shakes most of all. I think that it's very appealing to think that a product that's so convenient and decent tasting can compose a large part of your diet plan and weight loss. I'm often asked about the differences between many of the popular diet shakes on the market. So, in the following article, I will compare three popular shakes (atkins, slim fast, and medifast) in terms of taste, calories, protein, carbs, and sugar.

Weight Loss Shakes Comparison - A Look at Atkins, Slim Fast, and Medifast Shakes

Atkins Diet Shakes: First up, I'm going to look at the atkins shakes. I'm going to use the standard chocolate flavor for all of these products because I want to remain consistent. I'm looking at the advantage milk chocolate product. This shake contains 160 calories, 9 grams of fat, 4 grams of carbs, 1 gram of sugar, and 15 grams of protein. In terms of taste, I find this product to be a bit chalky and to have an almost artificial sweet taste. This product does have an impressive amount of protein, but it's relatively high in calories and fat.

Slim Fast Weight Loss Shakes: When I went to do research for this article, I found that the slim fast shakes had recently been recalled. Still, the nutritional information was still available. I will be looking at the original slim fast milk chocolate shake. This shake checks in with a whopping 220 calories, but has only 3 grams of fat. It has a disturbing 30 grams of carbs and 34 grams of sugars. In its defense, it does have 10 grams of protein. Still, the fat, calories, and the high amount of carbs and sugars will probably run counter to this. And to make matters worse, the taste of this product is by far the chalkiest of all three shakes.

Medifast Weight Loss Shakes: Now, I'll look at the medifast 55 dutch chocolate shake. This one has the least amount of calories - at only 90. There is only 1 gram of fat, 13 grams of carbohydrates, 8 sugars, and 11 grams of protein. This one has the lowest amount of calories and fat by far. And, I find that taste to be the best of the three. I do have to add some extra liquid to this product because I don't like shakes that are too thick, but with that little modification made, this one is my opinion the best tasting of the bunch.

How These Shakes Fit Into A Plan Of Weight Loss Based Partly On Ketosis: Most of these shakes work under two principals. They want to save you calories on your meals and they want to save you sugars and carbs while giving you more protein. The goal here is to get your body into ketosis so that it's able to burn fat instead of sugars and carbs. But to make this happen, you have to do your part by taking in enough protein and by taking in less calories and carbs.

I find it questionable that the slim fast shake would meet this criteria. There is simply too much sugars and calories. The atkins shake is better in this regard, but it still has significantly more calories and a whopping nine grams of fat, which I find pretty problematic. I might be biased because I regularly consume medifast shakes, but I find them to be the winner both in terms of nutrition and taste.

The Sensa Weight Loss Program Exposed!

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

The Sensa weight loss program has redefined dieting on a whole new level. Who would ever believe it was possible to lose weight without actually dieting? Well with Sensa, apparently it is possible. Nicknamed "The Sprinkle Diet", this weight loss program has become one heck of a popular diet fad, but is it the real deal?

The Sensa Weight Loss Program Exposed!

Well here's what it is: The Sensa weight loss program is a powder formula that is designed to trick your mind into thinking you're full faster. As a result you eat less and overtime this leads to weight loss. Sounds too good to be true right? Well it's not. What it claims to do it really does, BUT...

The powder is made up of many chemical ingredients which act as a drug on the mind and can have potentially harmful side effects. Doing research online, I found a lot of people complained about getting headaches after this. That's because of the powder's effect on the mind.

Now most people can cope with this, but there is another issue which is more serious. The Sensa diet allows people to continue eating what they like, and for most people struggling to lose weight, it means continuing to eat unhealthy foods and avoiding exercise at all costs. It also brings the chance of addiction to the product.

When you put it that way, the Sensa diet only masks people's source of their weight problems and that is the consumption of unhealthy foods and lack of exercise. Granted there are other categories of people, such as those who are too busy to exercise or don't have time for conventional dieting. In these cases, the Sensa diet seems ideal.

Best Healthy Diets For Weight Loss

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

There are many diets out there, but healthy diets for weight loss are not as easy to find. With all those fad diets that shoot up one month and are gone the next, it's hard determining which is the best and most effective. This article will give you some tips to finding the right diet to follow.

Best Healthy Diets For Weight Loss

Nowadays there are many healthy diets for weight loss. This can include the Paleo Diet, abs diet, etc. The diets that are the most healthy have a few traits in common.

1. They focus on Healthy Foods
Healthy diets for weight loss usually are healthy because of the food selection that they have. For some people, simply switching to healthier foods helps them lose weight!

Healthy foods have many benefits. Some have many grams of fiber which can help you feel full and satisfied faster. In addition, they usually contain many nutrients that are devoid in junk and overly processed foods.

If you try to find a diet and it lets you still eat processed foods but in moderation this is not healthy. It can help you lose weight since you're eating less, but it might not work for many. Eating junk food is eating empty calories basically. The food doesn't "fill" you up. Your body is still screaming for the nutrition that healthy foods provide. As a result, you feel hungrier more often even though you've had plenty of calories already.

So, make sure when picking a diet that it has healthy foods. These can include, but are not limited to, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and oats, nuts, legumes, beans, and lean meats.

Beware! There is one big problem nowadays. Food companies are now packaging foods that aren't healthy and labeling them as healthy. For example, most people think that shopping at a healthy store like "Trader Joe's" automatically makes the food healthy. Organic does NOT equal healthy. There are many organic cookies, candies, etc that are filled with calories and will do anything but help you with your weight loss goals.

2. Calorie Restriction is a Must
In order to lose weight you need to reduce the amount of calories you consume on a daily basis. The longer you can keep this up, the more fat you will lose. A diet that lets you eat however much you want, even if it's healthy foods, may not be enough for most people. Counting how much food you eat and making sure you don't over eat is the best program for weight loss and ensures that you are doing everything right and not just walking in the dark.

Forego Dieting And Choose A Healthy, Sustainable Weight Maintenance Diet Instead

,
Paleo Weight Loss :

Are you dieting? In today's vernacular, dieting has come to mean trying to lose weight. Yet Diet is the food and beverages you consume, and can lead to weight loss (Paleo Diet, South Beach Diet, etc.), weight gain (bodybuilding diet, etc), or weight maintenance (any healthy diet).

Forego Dieting And Choose A Healthy, Sustainable Weight Maintenance Diet Instead

While it might seem like it's all just playing with semantics, there really is a big difference between the two. If you're dieting to lose weight, you're probably making a mistake - most dieters find themselves trapped in the 'yo-yo diet' syndrome, forever losing a few pounds then gaining them back over and over again, often with the result of their weight slowly increasing overall.

Most diets start you off heavily restricting calories and drinking a lot of water. Restricting your caloric intake heavily only works for a very short time - usually your body will slow down its metabolism (the rate it uses energy at) by the end of the first week to compensate for the reduced intake. You may lose a pound or two of true bodyweight, but most of the loss will be from the increased water intake.

You body is truly efficient in its operations, and water is the single most important part of your nutritional intake. People can go up to about 30 days without food, but your system would shut down without water for 6 or 7 days. As a result, your body stores water based on need and available supply. When you drink more water regularly, your body doesn't see the need to store as much of it, so it releases more of its water stores. Since you've increased your water consumption while dieting, your body is lighter more from carrying less water than from burning body fat.

And what happens when you've reached your weight target and end your diet? You go back to your 'normal' number of calories, but now your metabolism is slower so you're actually creating a bigger caloric surplus than before you started dieting. Unless and until your metabolism catches back up, that excess will be stored as body fat as insurance against the next caloric deficit. And it's the same with water - if you start drinking less, your body will go back to storing more of it.

Net result? In short order your weight has gone back up surpassing your starting weight, and you're facing another weight loss diet. Not really what you were hoping for, was it? It's time to break that cycle and get to and maintain your healthy bodyweight.

To start, evaluate your current eating habits and make any necessary changes. You should be eating 3 meals a day, each with a mix of fibrous carbohydrates, quality protein and some healthy fats. Replace white bread with whole wheat, including any buns, etc. Be sure to have a good breakfast - not sugar-laden cereal, salt-laden instant oatmeal or toast & coffee. Instead go for bacon & eggs, oatmeal & eggs or a grapefruit & a protein shake, for example.

Lunch should be tuna, salmon or a small portion of lean red meat, with a side of roasted or steamed vegetables or a salad - but skip the useless calories of the thicker dressings and opt for either oil & vinegar or just a drizzle of olive oil. Supper should be fish, chicken or lean red meat and green vegetables or beans. For best results, fill half the plate with steamed green vegetables.

If you find you need a snack mid-afternoon or after dinner, choose fruit, unsalted peanuts or walnuts. Just remember that while healthy, each has calories so limit the amount you allow yourself. If you're still peckish an hour before bedtime, treat yourself to a cup of cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is high in the phosphoprotein casein, a slow digesting protein that not only helps to curb your hunger but keeps the body burning more calories while you sleep as it your body digests it.

Check your weight about once a week to see if you're headed towards your weight loss goals. It's always best to check first thing in the morning upon rising, before getting dressed. Your weight fluctuates by a few pounds throughout the day, so best to always check it at the same time of day, and doing it first thing helps to eliminate fluctuations based on that day's food intake.

If you're making progress, just keep doing what you're doing - don't make any changes to try & hurry the process. Let your body adapt and continue at it's own preferred rate. On the other hand, if you're not yet losing, try either reducing the calories slightly at each meal, or replace a bit of the carbohydrate portion with additional protein.

Once you're at your target weight, keep monitoring yourself for another few weeks. If your body is still dropping weight, up your portions slightly until you reach a maintenance level. Now when you reach the weight you want to stay at it's easy to maintain, since you're already eating right to maintain that weight - no further changes are necessary as you're now living a more fit lifestyle and eating a healthy diet. And should you slip up the odd time, increasing your exercise level, even going for a couple of walks a day, can usually help to cover up your caloric indiscretions!
